About The College

Crystal Rose Cow Dog College is owned and operated by Merle and Sandi Newton, stock dog professionals, experienced in the management of large cattle ranches who are devoted to the development of good, solid cow dogs through breeding, training, handler education, practical ranch work and competition.

The Newtons are consistent trial winners, having produced and trained multiple Champions including the 2006 World Championship Rodear Reserve Champion, 2005 World Championship Rodear Grand Champion, 2005 Red Bluff High Selling Dog ($10,500.00), 2005 Klamath Falls Go-Round Winner, 2005 Billy Hindman Memorial Open and Nursery Champions, 2005 Tri-County Open Reserve Champion, 2005 Paicines Ranch Open Champion, 2004 Champion and Reserve Champion Pacific Coast Ranch Dogs, 2003 National Champion Nursery Cattledog, 2003 National Champion Cattledog Finalist, 2002 Lone Star Cattledog Futurity Finalist, 2002 Misty Oaks Nursery Champion, 2002 Sierra Valley Open and Nursery Champions, as well as numerous Red Bluff Champion dogs.

Located in rural northern California, Crystal Rose is approximately 18 miles west of the city of Red Bluff, in the very heart of cattle country. The ranch includes a variety of pastures, as well as meadows, hills, bluffs, creeks, corrals and an arena and is available by private treaty to those interested in renting a facility to host a stockdog trial or clinic.
